Raja is a social activist and columnist, covering issues related to governance, environment and social development in Kashmir. He was heading the operations in Jammu & Kashmir until Oct 2019 at Basix Social Enterprise Group, an organisation that works on solid waste management, skill development and financial inclusion. Raja is also actively associated with the Right to Information movement in the state of Jammu & Kashmir which led to the enactment of the Right to Information legislation in the state in 2009. He writes weekly columns in two leading English dailies and occasionally for local Urdu newspapers.
