Parthiv Shah, an Assistant Professor at Anant, is keenly interested in exploring diverse facets of design, particularly those integrating mechanical elements, human-powered applications, alternative energy sources, origami, toys and games. His academic pursuits centre around the crossroads of engineering, design and ergonomics. His ongoing research explores “How Rocking / Oscillations of a Furniture Piece Affect User’s Brain”.
At Anant, Parthiv undertakes teaching responsibilities within the Space Design department at the School of Design. His instructional role is pivotal in fostering an environment where innovative approaches and practical applications in design are cultivated and explored.
He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from L D College of Engineering, Ahmedabad, where he gained comprehensive knowledge of the principles of mechanical systems and their applications. He also has a Master’s in Furniture Design from the Faculty of Design, CEPT University, Ahmedabad.
Before joining Anant, Parthiv accumulated extensive industry experience spanning 14 years, primarily focused on luminaire, illumination design and technical sales. He also worked comprehensively in the field of design education, contributing as a faculty member at institutions such as the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, CEPT University, United Institute of Design, Gandhinagar, Dr Bhanuben Nanavati College Of Architecture For Women, Pune Anant National University in the capacity of a Visiting Faculty.
Parthiv is also the founder of Metamorphosis Design, a consultancy firm specialising in furniture, product and space design. Through his venture, he leverages his multifaceted experience to deliver innovative design solutions that blend aesthetic appeal with functional excellence.
Parthiv is a trained ornithologist who works to save and rescue birds. He is also a working committee member of the Youth Hostels Association of India, Ahmedabad (Main) Unit, helping curate and organise treks for young enthusiasts. Parthiv also participates in endurance running to challenge himself physically and mentally and loves to play volleyball and badminton.
