Jitendra Solanki, an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, focuses his research on automotive interiors and systematic problem-solving within industrial and automotive design. His core interests lie in form exploration, design processes and user-centred design. Jitendra combines traditional sketching techniques with advanced digital tools to develop and refine concepts, ensuring that each design balances functionality, aesthetics and market relevance. His methodical approach emphasises thoughtful design evolution grounded in user needs and industry standards.

At Anant, Jitendra’s teaching and research interests lie at the intersection of industrial design, transportation design and design education, particularly in form exploration and visualisation techniques. He is deeply committed to mentoring students, helping them cultivate a strong design sensibility, critical thinking and a user-centric approach.

He holds a Master’s degree in Transportation Design from the National Institute of Design (NID), Gandhinagar and a Bachelor’s degree in Lifestyle Accessory Design from the National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), New Delhi. He completed his master’s thesis as part of the Wipro IISc Research and Innovation Network (WIRIN), where he explored innovative approaches to design and technology integration. He also served as a Teaching Associate at NID Gandhinagar, contributing to academic instruction and student mentorship.

Before joining Anant, Jitendra spent five years as an industrial designer, contributing to over 15 notable design projects, several of which were showcased at international exhibitions and marketed globally, including a product with registered design rights. Alongside his professional practice, he has also been actively involved in design education, mentoring students in industrial and automotive design at NID Gandhinagar, where he combined practical industry insights with academic guidance.

In addition to his academic responsibilities, Jitendra is deeply involved in shaping and advancing industrial design pedagogy. His efforts focus on making design education more immersive, experiential and process-oriented, ensuring that students gain conceptual clarity and hands-on exposure to real-world challenges.
