Anjali PS, an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, has been keenly involved in sustainable fashion from the perspective of culture and everyday practice. Her approach combines digital research techniques with qualitative methods to gain a deeper understanding of second-hand fashion consumption, consumer cultures, sustainability and design from diverse theoretical frameworks. She has ongoing research work in sustainability in branding and marketing.
Anjali holds a Master’s in Fashion Management from NIFT Bengaluru. Subsequently, she is currently pursuing doctoral studies at MICA, Ahmedabad. As part of the Fellowship Programme in Management (Communication) at MICA, she spent a term at the Department of Materials at the University of Manchester to further her research in sustainable fashion.
Before joining Anant, Anjali worked as an Assistant Professor at the Fashion Design Department at Karnavati University, Gandhinagar. Following this, she pursued doctoral research at MICA to develop her research area further. She has also presented her work on esteemed platforms such as the ICMC (International Communication Management Conference) and GFC (Global Fashion Conference) and has worked in fashion retail with international bridge-to-luxury brands such as Diesel and Michael Kors. She was also the e-commerce manager for a multi-designer platform – Ciceroni, Ahmedabad.
At Anant, Anjali’s teaching and research interests lean towards sustainability in fashion in terms of culture, consumption and business, which encompass the status quo as well as the path forward.
