Piyush Thakkar, Assistant Professor, Bachelor of Visual Arts, is a Gujarati poet, artist and art educator who has extensively written biographies on the life and times of contemporary artists and notes or articles on the appreciation of artworks. His research interest has been the art and craft practices of early twentieth-century Gujarat. His poems have been featured in anthologies of modern Gujarati poetry and translated into Indian languages. He has also been invited as a speaker to distinguished literary meets/ literature festivals for poetry reading across India.

At Anant, Piyush’s current teaching and research interests are the expansive genre of drawing, composition in diverse media, fundamentals of Visual Arts, World of Art and Design and Contemporary Art Practices.

Before joining Anant, Piyush taught at the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, CVM College of Fine Arts, Vallabh Vidyanagar, Surat School of Fine Arts, Veer Narmad South Gujarat University, Surat, and the Institute of Architecture and Hemchandracharya North Gujarat University, Patan. He has also worked as an Academic Associate and Programme Officer at the Balvant Parekh Centre for General Semantics and Other Human Sciences, Vadodara.

Piyush has shown his artworks in both solo and group shows across India and has presented his research papers and poetry on esteemed platforms like seminars, conferences and literary festivals on art and literature across cities in India.
