Prof Wasim Saiyed, Assistant Professor at the Centre for Moving Image, School of Design, brings over 15 years of experience in the television and broadcast industry, having worked with leading companies such as Walt Disney India and Star India. As a Creative Producer, he has led on-air promotions for channels including Star Movies, Star World, Star Movies Select and the Disney Kids Network. He also runs a production house offering end-to-end creative services, including scriptwriting, direction and content strategy for both commercial and independent projects. Over the years, he collaborated with top talent across the industry for live projects and workshops.

At Anant, Wasim’s primary role is to integrate real-world industry practices into the academic ecosystem, preparing students for careers in film, television, and visual storytelling. This includes conducting hands-on video production workshops, facilitating industry collaborations and guiding students through the entire creative process – from concept to screen. He will also help bridge the gap between industry and academia by introducing students to AI filmmaking tools, professional workflows and ethical frameworks relevant to the media industry.

A graduate of the National Institute of Design (NID), specialising in Animation Film Design, Wasim’s academic journey began at Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, where he studied Fine Arts for a year before joining NID. His training has given him a strong foundation in both visual aesthetics and storytelling, which he continues to build on through professional practice and academic engagement.

Outside the classroom, Wasim is a passionate biker with a love for vintage motorcycles and analogue photography. He also plays the drums to stay connected with music. Recently, he has been exploring the intersection of creativity and technology by tinkering with ethical AI tools for storytelling and blending tradition with innovation.
