Swati Mangrulkar, an Assistant Professor at Anant, has an artistic approach to moving image arts. She is engaged in various hands-on animation techniques using materials such as sand, clay and charcoal to create animated pieces. Her research interest is in experimental techniques for understanding self-expression narratives beyond the tangibility of materials.
At Anant, Swati is associated with the Centre of Moving Image and takes a multidimensional approach to enhance the Centre’s functioning. She desires to build a unique space of experimentation to bring innovation in the field of Moving Images and keep the nature of art authentic.
Swati has a Master of Arts degree with a specialisation in animation from Srishti Manipal Institute of Art, Design and Technology, Bengaluru.
Beyond academia, Swati is trained in Indian classical vocals and is a certified Indian classical dancer in the two disciplines – Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi. She knows four Indian languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Gujarati and Tamil and is keen to nurture her talent in various other fields.
