Dr Chandranath Tripathi

Dr Chandranath Tripathi, Professor and Academic Director at Anant School for Climate Action, has over 28 years of professional experience and has gained extensive research, academic and administrative experience in the field of climate change and related issues.

 

At Anant, his role includes the application of regional climate simulation for the assessment of the impact of climate change on agriculture and water resources in India, as well as technologies for climate change mitigation and adaptation in rural and urban sectors.

 

Dr Tripathi has a PhD from the Department of Geophysics (Climate Change), Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi. He also earned his MSc (Tech) degree in Geophysics (Meteorology) and his Bachelor’s degree from the Banaras Hindu University.

 

He has worked on projects in the area of “Global Warming and India’s Food Security” and the “Development of GIS-Based Integrated Watershed Management Decision Support System” during his tenure as Senior Project Scientist at the Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, New Delhi. He also has extensive experience teaching BTech and MTech students and supervising PhD students in the area of Environmental Engineering at Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Farah Mathura.

 

In addition to teaching and training BTech, MTech and Doctoral students, Dr Tripathi has extensive experience in academic administration. He has held positions as Head of the Department of Environmental Engineering, the Coordinator of the Skill Development Programme, a Proctorial Board member and a flying squad member at Hindustan College of Science and Technology, Farah Mathura. He was also a member of the Board of Studies of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University Lucknow. He was a pioneer in the development of the course curriculum for the BTech in Environmental Engineering. He has published over 55 research papers in national/international journals and conferences. He also reviews the prestigious journals Water Resources Management, Springer Publications and Cogent Engineering, Taylor and Francis.

 

Besides his significant contribution to research and development, teaching and administration, he has also made impactful contributions to organising environmental awareness programmes, society-connect programmes for farmers and numerous conferences and training programmes in the areas of climate change and environmental management.
