Lapdiang Artimai Syiem

According to Khasi folklore, Pahsyntiew was lured out of the Marai cave by a man bringing a pumpkin flower, the jalyngkteng, to draw her out. She was taken to the village where she met a warrior and with him gave birth to a lineage. She is the ancestress of the Syiem clan, the clan Lapdiang Artimai Syiem (Shillong, Meghalaya) belongs to.

Summersalt

Working out of Shillong, Summersalt is essentially a folk-fusion band whose energy depends on the indigenous music sitting on the laps of the Khasi hills in India’s northeastern state of Meghalaya. The songs (both in Khasi & English) contain wit and humor. Summersalt’s works of art are solution-oriented. The instruments are a mix of standards and some lesser-known house tools of the indigenous group they represent – ‘the Khasi Community’.
