Required Education Qualification and Years of Experience:

  • ITI/Diploma in Carpentry, Metal Technology, or related field preferred.
  • 1–2 year Indo-German Tool Room course / Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent technical certification.
  • 2–3 years of experience in industry floor shop, academic mechanical labs, prototyping studio, metal industry, sheet metal industry, or welding floor shop.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Manage tool room operations including issuing, receiving, and recording all tools and equipment.
  • Maintain accurate inventory and stock records in coordination with the technician and supervisor.
  • Assist students in fixing tools on machines and guide them in the safe use of handy power tools.
  • Keep detailed logs of machine maintenance, servicing, and repairs.
  • Support the technician during projects, workshops, and studio sessions whenever required.
  • Actively participate in machine maintenance activities to ensure smooth functioning of the lab.
  • Coordinate procurement processes including tool requisition, inward materials, and related documentation.
  • Ensure that all tools and equipment are well maintained, calibrated, and ready for use.
  • Promote adherence to safety protocols and proper handling of tools within the lab.
  • Provide assistance in organizing and setting up tools, fixtures, and accessories for lab activities.

Key Skills

  • Experience working with metal lab tools, welding machines, metal lathes, sheet metal, metal drill machines, and handy power tools.
  • Experience in maintaining welding machines (MIG, TIG, and Arc), metal lathes, grinders, drills, and other fabrication tools.
  • Strong knowledge of tool room practices, stock management, and record keeping.
  • Ability to assist students and staff with tool setup and troubleshooting.
  • Good coordination and communication skills to work with students, technicians, and supervisors.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Hands-on attitude with a proactive approach to machine upkeep and procurement processes.
