Parag Sarma has a double postgraduation in Industrial Design from the National Institute of Design (NID) and Creative Sculptures from the Faculty of Fine Arts, MSU Baroda. He pursued Fine Arts in Sculptures from Indira Kala Sangit Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, Chhattisgarh.
Parag Sarma has 11 years of professional experience across various industries as Deputy Design Manager at TI Cycles of India, Murugappa Group, Chennai; Senior User Experience Designer for Industrial/Process Automation at Yokogawa Electric Corporation, Bangalore & Tokyo; Lead User Experience Designer at ABB (Asea Brown Boveri), Bangalore, Warsaw & Zürich. Excluding corporate experiences, he also has experience in design research, design pedagogy and conducting design workshops.
Parag also served as an Assistant Professor at Unitedworld Institute of Design, Karnavati University, Gandhinagar, where he played a lead role in the Interaction Design Department with a new cutting-edge vision for design education and industry connections. He also taught product design as a visiting faculty at Nitte Meenakshi School of Architecture, Bangalore and Budram Madhab Satradhikar College, Sualkuchi, Assam. In industry, he holds design patents for user experience design and development for field operators/engineers in process automation industries.
Parag’s design and research focus on UX/UI design, designing immersive media experiences and creativity as an educational medium. Parag likes to explore the boundaries of design thinking, creative methods and their implementations.
Parag also published his research in reputed journals like ‘The Journal of the Asiatic Society of Mumbai, UGC Care Group 1 Journals’ and others at national and international levels. Parag is also a group leader of the Interaction Design Foundation (IxDF), North-East India chapter. He received National Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government Of India.
