Maharishi Thula

Ahmedabad based practising architect, Maharishi Thula pursued his postgraduation in Architecture in Sustainable Architecture from CEPT University and undergarduation in Architecture from SVIT, VASAD. He has worked with well-known organisations like HCP Design and Project Management, Vastushilpa Consultancy and also worked as a Project Manager with Anand Patel & Associates on noted projects such as Smritivan – Earthquake Memorial in Bhuj, Alembic Township, Vadodara, Mother Dairy Fruit & Vegetable Pvt Ltd, Ahmedabad, Olive Grace Apartment, Ahmedabad among many others.

Currently, Maharishi runs his architecture firm called Avritah Architects, based in Ahmedabad. In addition, he has been actively involved in teaching and serves as a visiting faculty at SVIT, VASAD, and SAL Institute of Architecture, Ahmedabad. Maharishi has also been a core part of the team for Project 1:1 – create and build your own studio at CEPT University and also assisted live workshops like Hyperbolic-Parabolic construction techniques with Bamboo and Ferro cement. His approach includes 3d informative learning outputs as a core part of practical learning through live case studies, Field Visits, and creative model-making.

Maharishi has been working on research projects related to Precast Concrete, Sustainable Housing, Recycled Building Materials, and Methods, Natural Architecture, Bamboo, among others. One of his research projects, ‘Evaluation of Precast Hollow-core concrete – A sustainable building product’ has been published in the journal LAMBERT – Academic Publishing.

Since December 2015, Maharishi has been associated with AnantU as the Assistant Professor where he teaches Building Construction Techniques, Advanced Construction and services, Housing Studio, and Vernacular Architecture.
