Jigar Patel, an Assistant Professor at the School of Design, specialises in transportation design, focusing on vehicle architecture and interior design. His expertise is crafting innovative, user-centric vehicle layouts addressing evolving mobility needs. He is adept at developing holistic vehicle architectures that integrate aesthetics, ergonomics and performance. Through his work, Jigar ensures that every design element enhances functionality and contributes to the overall visual and experiential quality of the vehicle.

At Anant, Jigar focuses on broadening students’ global perspectives on design through the lens of an automotive designer. He integrates courses that expand access to the wider mobility sector, covering areas such as defence vehicles, aerospace interiors, luxury car interiors, micro-mobility solutions and system design. He aims to equip students with a comprehensive understanding of emerging mobility trends and interdisciplinary design thinking.

Jigar holds a Master’s in Design with a specialisation in Transportation Design Management and a Bachelor’s in Transportation Design from ISD Rubika, School of Design in France. During his academic journey, he worked on several high-impact projects, including the Dassault Aviation Falcon 6X interior design. He also contributed to a project with Technicon Design, where he designed a business-class train interior.

His design approach strongly focuses on future-ready aesthetics, user-centric thinking and inventive solutions that elevate form and function. Jigar’s creative vision and technical expertise position him as a dynamic and forward-thinking professional in transportation design.

Before joining Anant, Jigar served as an Assistant Professor at Khyati School of Design, where he played a key role in curriculum development and student mentorship. His responsibilities included designing engaging course content, evaluating projects and supporting students in their academic and professional growth. He also brings valuable industry experience to his academic role.

Jigar’s diverse experience across academia and industry demonstrates his ability to bridge theoretical knowledge with practical, future-oriented design solutions. His work in interior design is rooted in optimising space, utilising advanced materials and integrating emerging technologies to craft luxurious, comfortable and efficient passenger environments. Guided by in-depth research and trend analysis, his design process anticipates user needs and future mobility innovations. Jigar’s expertise lies in translating complex concepts into tangible, user-centric automotive design solutions that align with both current expectations and the evolving demands of the future.

Beyond his academic responsibilities, Jigar is an avid automobile enthusiast who enjoys visiting auto expos and automotive museums to stay connected with the latest industry trends and innovations. A passionate traveller, he actively explores diverse cultures, cuisines and natural landscapes, drawing inspiration from his experiences. In addition to teaching, Jigar also works as a freelance designer, collaborating with several design firms across Europe, further enriching his global perspective and design sensibilities.
