Hashim Padiyath had graduated in Computer Science & Engineering before joining for Master of Design in Visual Communication at Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay in 1991. After working for a year with C-DAC, Pune and for three years with Malayala Manorama at Kottayam, he started his own design consultancy in Kochi, Kerala. Design Difference handled a wide variety of design projects including type design, publication design, identity design, signage design, packaging design and interface design among others in the two decades of its existence, leaving a firm imprint in the design landscape of Kerala. Eager to share his expertise and experience, he started teaching at a few design schools in the South, before taking up teaching full-time with MIT Institute of Design, Pune. After two and a half years with MIT, he has joined Anant University as an Associate Professor in Communication design. Though typography and type design are his professional passions, he is also an organic farmer, swimmer, trekker and travel enthusiast.
