Eswaran Sridharan

Eswaran Sridharan is the Director and Chief Executive Officer, University of Pennsylvania Institute for the Advanced Study of India (UPIASI) in Delhi. He did his PhD in Political Science from the University of Pennsylvania and has published on Indian and comparative politics and international relations, including on elections, parties and party systems, coalition politics, political finance, comparative political economy, international relations theory and South Asian regional security and cooperation, and Indian foreign policy. He has held visiting appointments at the London School of Economics, the Institute of Developing Economies (Tokyo), University of California, Berkeley, and the Institute of South Asian Studies, Singapore. He is the author, editor or co-editor of twelve books, most recently Elections, Parties and Coalitions in India: Theory and Recent History, Permanent Black, 2024, and Oxford Handbook of Indian Politics, OUP, UK, 2024, has published over 95 academic articles in scholarly journals and edited volumes. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the refereed pan-social science Routledge journal, India Review since 2008.
