Dr Vyas Mani Sharma, Assistant Professor, School of Design, has his research interests in materials, additive manufacturing, welding, metal foams, powder metallurgy, green processes and technologies, and the design of experiments.

 

Dr Sharma’s teaching and research interests at Anant revolve around product design, materials, manufacturing processes and optimisation techniques. He focuses on exploring innovative methods to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of product development while delving into integrating advanced materials and cutting-edge manufacturing technologies.

 

A PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, Dr Sharma has completed his postdoctoral research at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Tel Aviv University, Israel, and Northwestern University, USA. Additionally, he holds a Master’s in Manufacturing Science and Technology from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur and a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering from Birla Institute of Technology Mesra.

 

Dr Sharma has presented his work at various international conferences such as The Minerals, Metals & Materials Society, International Conference on 3D Printing & Additive Manufacturing, MATADOR Conference on Advanced Manufacturing, ASME and AMPT. He reviewed INAE Letters, Materials Today Sustainability, Materials and Design, Additive Manufacturing Letters, Heliyon and the Journal of Manufacturing Processes.

 

Recently, he received a Prime Minister Early Carrier Research Grant under the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) worth 60 lakh for a duration of three years from the Science and Engineering Research Board.

 

Beyond academia, Dr Sharma is an avid cricket and football enthusiast, often spending time on the field. He is also passionate about hiking, other outdoor activities and spending time with nature.
