Required Education Qualification and Years of Experience:

  • ITI degree in Carpentry / Woodworking.
  • 2-year Indo-German Tool Room / Diploma in Mechanical or equivalent technical certification.
  • 4–5 years of experience in design studios, academic labs, model-making studios, makerspaces, fab labs, or prototyping industry.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Assist students, faculty, and project teams in designing and fabricating furniture, prototypes, models, and experimental setups.
  • Operate and maintain all woodworking floor machines (planer, jointer, spindle moulder, sanding machines, cutters, grinding machine, lathes, combi planner tools, bandsaw, CNC routers, vacuum forming machines, and handy power tools).
  • Safely handle and operate a wide range of power tools and hand tools.
  • Understand technical drawings, provide training, demonstrations, and hands-on support in woodworking techniques and model-making methods.
  • Maintain machines, tools, and equipment in good working condition; carry out routine maintenance and safety checks.
  • Ensure adherence to workshop safety standards and best practices.
  • Support the Makerspace Supervisor in administrative tasks such as stock management, procurement, usage logs, and reporting.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to enable innovative projects and experimental builds.

Key Skills

  • Proven experience in woodworking, carpentry, and model making.
  • Strong knowledge of wood types, joinery techniques, finishing processes, and prototyping methods.
  • Ability to interpret design drawings and convert them into practical builds.
  • Skilled in the use of woodworking machinery and power tools with high safety awareness.
