Anant hosted Dr Rajendra Singh, also popularly known as the ‘Waterman of India,’ for a session on 3 October 2024 at the campus.
During the session, titled ‘Community-driven Decentralised Water Management: Solutions for Climate Change Adaptation and Mitigation’, Dr Singh underscored the critical role of community-driven approaches, traditional knowledge, innovation and adaptability in addressing the pressing challenges of water scarcity and climate change. He also emphasised that the water crisis is a global issue, but the solution is local and collaborative efforts are required to fight it.
Dr Singh, a water conservationist and environmentalist, has been felicitated with several awards for his community leadership and efforts to revive rivers and water bodies nationwide. His work on promoting traditional water conservation knowledge, restoration of groundwater reserves and community management of natural resources has also been widely appreciated.
