Dr. Anunaya Chaubey is a well-known artist whose works explore the mystery of the mundane individual and communal worlds. Layered and subtly textured, his paintings present a play of people and places and the dynamism between the two. His works can be found in public and private collections worldwide.

As an academic, Dr. Chaubey teaches a pathbreaking course on Art Appreciation at several institutions within the country and abroad. This module connects art with all the determinants that influence it, such as science and technology, history, psychology, economics, politics, entrepreneurship, and a range of other knowledge and practice domains.

Dr. Chaubey is currently the Provost of Anant National University, an institution dedicated to architecture, design, climate technology, culture, and several liberal arts disciplines in Ahmedabad. He is focused on building a design university with a solid liberal arts and technology foundation, leveraging multiple perspectives to help students acquire the big contextual picture to practice their specialization with impact.

Before moving to Anant in 2019, he helped found the Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University and served as Deputy Dean for ten years. He continues to teach there. He has also served as Principal of Patna College of Arts and Crafts for several years and as Secretary of Bihar Lalit Kala Akademi, where he worked at the grassroots to document folk art traditions of visual arts in Bihar. In 2008, he was invited by the Government of Mauritius as a Visiting Fellow to set up the Department of Arts and Crafts at Rabindranath Tagore Institute. He is a Salzburg Fellow at the Salzburg Media Academy.

Dr. Chaubey holds a PhD in English Literature from Patna University, where he also taught the subject. His doctoral thesis was on Ezra Pound’s critical theories and practice. Besides teaching these subjects for over thirty years, Dr. Chaubey has also worked in journalism and advertising.

In addition, he has vast administrative experience in the education space and has contributed to several institution-building exercises in India and abroad.
