A safety neckband by Anant National University students A professor and some students from AnantU have created a unique neckband – ‘Vibration-based Ultrasonic-heating neckband for Cervical Spondylosis’ that matches the needs of the sedentary lifestyle. Ever since the pandemic, there has been an increased use of technological devices such as mobile phones, personal computers, and working online, leading to several neck problems. A scientific survey under physiotherapy conducted on various patients showed that 6 out of 10 people face neck related problems.
Parth AtulKumar Shah, Assistant Professor & Manager of Makerspace and the students of Integrated Product Design Waseema Gavandi, Indrani Nagesh Kumar, Hridaya Joshi, Mayank Jaiswal and Amal Pagag have identified the solution to this problem and worked on developing a health care product that focuses on addressing both the issues of muscle stiffness and nerve compression. The students of AnantU have come up with the idea and have developed an affordable neckband using Ultra-sonic heat therapy combined with vibratory patterns that relaxes the muscles and helps increase blood flow to the neck and helps in repairing strained neck tissues.
The neckband consists of electro-magnetic vibrator motors whose vibration intensity can be controlled using a Voltage-regulator. These vibrators are placed at the accurate pressure points on the neck to stimulate the pressure points. These vibrators relax the tensioned muscles and provide initial instant relief.
These vibrators are enveloped by ultrasonic pads, which produce ultrasonic heat waves upon exciting them using the vibrators. These ultrasonic vibrations induce warmth into the neck muscles through these pressure points and relax the muscles, increasing the blood flow through the veins, making the neck area get more oxygen from the blood. This relaxes the muscles further, providing the user with the ultimate relaxation at the neck.
The main technology used in this product is ultrasonic heat waves with sound waves, which is a physiotherapy technique that uses the production of endogenous opioids. The band is equipped with vibrators that produce low frequencies that stimulate the nerves at the proper extent such that the muscles are relaxed just enough through the production of these opioids.
To add to this, the students have also designed an informatory app known as physio care, through which the users can connect to local doctors and find solutions of the problem related to muscle pain
