About Human Resources

The Human Resources office creates, encourages, and maintains an environment that supports, develops and sustains the wellbeing of the University’s employees, and the larger community of its stakeholders. The major functions of the Office of Human Resources include but are not limited to the following:

  • Set up recruitment, selection, and employment policies and procedures.
  • Develop and coordinate staff professional training, development, and education.
  • Assist in managing and implementing the performance appraisal system
  • Provide safe and effective working conditions, thus enhancing staff welfare by providing assistance and encouraging a positive relationship between staff and the University.
  • Manage and maintain employees’ records and files, and provide statistical information and reports to the appropriate parties.
  • Develop, implement, and update personnel policies and procedures.

Required Educational Qualification

Master’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.

Years of Experience

8–10 years of experience in HR, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role

Experience in the education sector is a plus.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Strategic HR Management
 

  • Develop and implement HR strategies and initiatives aligned with the university’s mission and vision.
  • Collaborate with university leadership to ensure HR policies support academic and administrative excellence.
  • Provide strategic input on workforce planning, succession planning, and organizational design

Compensation and Benefits
 

  • Oversee the end-to-end payroll process for all university employees, including faculty and administrative staff.
  • Ensure accurate calculation of salaries, bonuses, deductions, and other payroll components.
  • Monitor and reconcile payroll data, resolving discrepancies promptly.
  • Ensure payroll practices comply with applicable laws, tax regulations, and university policies.
  • Manage statutory deductions (e.g., PF, PT, TDS, gratuity) and ensure timely filing of returns and remittances.
  • Develop and document standard operating procedures (SOPs) for payroll management.
  • Address employee queries related to salary, deductions, and benefits promptly.
  • Educate employees about payroll processes, tax filings, and benefit programs.
  • Maintain accurate and secure payroll records, ensuring confidentiality.
  • Generate payroll reports for management and provide analytics for decision-making.

Performance Management
 

  • Manage performance appraisal systems and processes.
  • Support supervisors and employees in goal-setting, feedback, and career development discussions.

HR Policies & Compliance
 

  • Develop, review, and update HR policies and handbooks in compliance with university standards and requirement.
  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations and internal policies.

Employee Relations
 

  • Act as a trusted advisor to faculty and staff on HR-related matters.
  • Address and resolve workplace conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary issues effectively.
  • Foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Recruitment and Talent Acquisition
 

  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, interviewing, and onboarding.
  • Ensure a diverse and inclusive hiring approach.
  • Maintain strong relationships with academic and non-academic talent pools.

Training and Development
 

  • Identify training needs and organize professional development programs.
  • Support leadership development initiatives and continuous learning opportunities.

HR Operations and Compliance
 

  • Ensure compliance with employment regulations and university policies.
  • Maintain accurate HR records, reports, and data management systems.
  • Lead HR audits and prepare compliance documentation as needed.

Leadership and Team Management
 

  • Supervise and mentor the HR team to achieve operational excellence.
  • Delegate responsibilities, track progress, and ensure accountability.
