About Office of Administrative Affairs

The Administrative Affairs office creates, encourages, and maintains an environment that supports, develops and sustains the wellbeing of the University’s employees, students, and the larger community of its stakeholders. The major functions of the Office of Administrative Affairs include but are not limited to the following

  • Provide administrative support services to all offices of the University
  • Manage stock of office supplies and places orders when necessary
  • Manage travel & stay arrangements
  • Facility Management at University campus and University Hostels
  • Building repair & maintenance
  • Event management, Workshops/Jury Management

Required Education Qualification and experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Horticulture, Landscape Management, or a related field

Years of Experience

5-7 years of extensive experience in horticulture and landscape design

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Landscaping and Garden Maintenance

  • Plan, design, and maintain campus gardens, lawns, trees, and other green areas.
  • Oversee planting, pruning, watering, and fertilizing of plants, shrubs, trees, and flowers.
  • Monitor and manage plant health, including pest control and disease management.

Team Supervision

  • Lead and manage the horticultural staff, including gardeners, technicians, and groundskeepers.
  • Schedule and assign daily tasks to team members.
  • Provide training and support to staff on best practices in horticulture and sustainability.

Project Management

  • Plan and execute landscaping projects, including new installations and renovations of existing areas.
  • Collaborate with university departments to meet specific landscape and garden needs for events and campus improvements.

Sustainability Practices

  • Implement sustainable horticultural practices, such as water conservation, organic fertilization, and environmentally-friendly pest control.
  • Promote biodiversity and ecological health in the campus landscape.
  • Oversee the composting and recycling of plant materials.

Health and Safety

  • Ensure all horticultural operations comply with health and safety regulations.
  • Provide staff with necessary training on the safe use of equipment and chemicals.

Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Work closely with university administration, facilities management, and external contractors to align landscaping projects with university goals.
  • Engage with students, staff, and faculty to promote the educational and aesthetic value of the campus’s green spaces.

HR Information Systems (HRIS)

  • Manage and maintain the HRIS to ensure accurate and up-to-date employee records.
  • Utilize data and analytics to inform HR strategies and decision-making.

Training and Development

  • Identify training needs and create development programs for staff at all levels.
  • Promote continuous learning and professional growth within the University.

Key Skills

  • Knowledge of plant species, soil types, irrigation systems, and pest management.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work outdoors and manage physical tasks as required.
  • Expertise in plant care, including planting, pruning, fertilization, and pest control.
  • Knowledge of sustainability practices in horticulture.
  • Proficiency in budgeting and resource allocation.
