About Anant National University

Anant National University, India’s first DesignX university, is dedicated to training students to devise solutions for global problems. The X in Design X is the symbol drawn from mathematics, representing enhancement. This new learning approach multiplies traditional design pedagogy with liberal arts disciplines, emerging technologies and knowledge drawn from hands-on community experiences to help understand our world better and to devise impactful solutions.

Our multidisciplinary undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes in design, architecture, climate action and visual arts harness knowledge from various disciplines and traditional practices to integrate it with cutting-edge technology to address diverse challenges. We train our designers to become solutionaries — revolutionary thinkers with a solution-oriented mindset.

About the Department

The Office of Student Services (OSS) works to establish an environment where Anant students and alumni feel nurtured, cared for and supported in their growth and development journey, while equipping them with skills of empathy, leadership, collaboration, critical thinking, problem-solving and effective communication through extra-curricular activities and events.

This is broadly facilitated through the four service units of the OSS:

  • Campus Life: Curating activities and platforms for students and alumni to explore new opportunities, showcase design acumen at national and international events, build lasting connections and learning experiences.
  • Residence Life: Ensuring a world-class, comfortable and safe environment for students residing in campus facilities.
  • Co-Curricular and Support Services: Expanding learning beyond the classroom by providing opportunities like on-campus jobs, guest lectures, skill-based workshops and mentorship support.
  • Health, Wellness and Safety: Creating opportunities to help the Anant community design a healthy lifestyle: mental, emotional and physical well-being in collaboration with 24×7 medical services.

Required Education qualifications

  • Doctoral/Master’s or equivalent in counseling, academic leadership, higher education administration, management, psychology or related fiedls.
  • 15-20 years in senior leadership roles in an educational setting in India or abroad with proven experience in managing student experience and support services, including mental health, career guidance and mentorship.

Assessment and Improvement Mechanisms
 

  • Create systems to assess and improve student and alumni services.
  • Benchmark against best practices and use data-driven strategies.

Policy Governance
 

  • Draft, review, and enforce policies on student/alumni life, housing, conduct, and wellbeing.
  • Align policies with the University’s mission and student needs.

Civic and Community Engagement
 

  • Lead initiatives connecting students/alumni to local and global communities.
  • Promote civic participation, volunteering, and social impact.

Budget Oversight
 

  • Manage departmental budgets aligned with institutional goals.
  • Direct funding to impactful student programmes and services.

Student Leadership and Engagement
 

  • Act as a bridge between management and student-led initiatives.
  • Encourage leadership roles (e.g., Student Council, campus jobs, RAs, clubs).

Student and Alumni Events
 

  • Oversee lifecycle events like orientation, graduation, student fests, TEDx, reunions.
  • Ensure meaningful execution and strong institutional connection.

Support for Diverse and International Students
 

  • Develop customised services to aid cultural transition, academic integration, and community-building.

Student Opportunities
 

  • Identify and facilitate participation in national/international competitions, conferences, and forums.

Committee Participation
 

  • Engage actively in University committees focused on student and alumni welfare.

ERP System Implementation
 

  • Oversee integrated ERP system to streamline student services: grievance redressal, housing, wellness, extracurriculars, alumni, and career support.

Handbooks and Best Practices
 

  • Develop, implement, and update handbooks for all stakeholders.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and adherence to best practices.

Key Skills

  • Interdisciplinary experience with proven experience in academics, mentoring students, higher education administration, managing budgets, optimising resources and related disciplines to create an inclusive culture for students.
  • The successful candidate should have demonstrated ability using higher education policies and data to design, plan, implement and manage student experiences in an educational setting.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage with students, management and partner organisations, ensuring a supportive and inclusive student experience.
