Anant National University, India’s first DesignX university, is dedicated to training students to devise solutions for global problems through creative thinking.

About Learning Commons

Anant National University Library is known as “Learning Commons”, is an inspiring and invaluable resource centre for the enhancement of study, research, teaching and workspace practices at the University. Our aim is to provide an ultra-modern ambience for creation and dissemination of knowledge, information, and research insights across all academic programmes. Learning Commons has excellent IT infrastructure backed with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology and other necessary software tools.

Required Educational Qualification

Master Degree in Library Science/Information Science/ Documentation with minimum 55%.
Desirable: A Ph.D degree in Library Science/Information Science/ Documentation/ Archives and Manuscript keeping from a recognized university.

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

Policy Formulation and Administration
 

  • Develop and implement policies, rules, and regulations to optimize the use of the library.
  • Participate in the formulation of educational policies for the parent organization.

Library Budget and Financial Management
 

  • Prepare and execute the library’s annual budget.
  • Oversee all professional tasks related to selection, acquisition, classification, cataloguing, and maintenance of library documents.

Service Provision
 

  • Provide services such as Current Awareness Service (CAS), Selective Dissemination of Information (SDI), and Reference services.
  • Foster a reading habit among library users.

Collection Development and Budget Allocation
 

  • Manage the acquisition of library materials while ensuring compliance with development policies.
  • Allocate appropriate budgets and evaluate collections, ensuring they support the curriculum.
  • Supervise all library services, including community outreach programs and literacy initiatives.

Academic Documentation and Repository Management
 

  • Collect and archive academic documentation, including dissertations, reports, and related study program drawings.
  • Develop and maintain the library repository for these materials.

Strategic Planning
 

  • Develop short- and long-term plans for the library, aligning with both the library’s and college’s mission and goals.

Reporting and Communication
 

  • Prepare reports, surveys, and other documents to meet professional obligations and inform management of library developments.

Regulatory Compliance
 

  • Ensure the library complies with the Council of Architecture (COA) and UGC norms related to library operations.

Promotion of Reading Culture
 

  • Organize events and activities that promote a reading culture within the Anant community.

Library Automation
 

  • Work on the automation of the Learning Commons/Library to enhance user experience and streamline operations.

Stock Maintenance
 

  • Maintain stock of books, periodicals, and other library resources.

Key Skills

  • Digitization and archival of Library documents
  • Experience in organizing conferences, seminars and training programs
  • Excellent communication with impeccable command over English and presentation skills; highly-organized, a self-starter and a collaborative team player
  • Knowledge of computers, the internet, and softwares such as KOHA, D-Space, Zotero, Mendeley etc.
  • Ability to make administrative decisions, interpret policies, and supervise staff
