Programme head, Bachelors of Visual Arts

Centre for Visual Arts

Visual Arts education asserts the value of a form of human experience that is essentially independent of ordinary cognition and action. It is a medium to understand and interpret the cultural world that we live in. It teaches us to construct non-singular art objects that are contextual, experiential and expressive to understand art, beauty and sublimity of nature. To fulfill the need for Visual arts education, the Centre for Visual Arts has established a four-year Bachelor of Visual Arts to impart the understanding of seeing and interpreting to the students through an engaging programme.

Bachelor of Visual Arts, a four-year undergraduate programme trains students in creative practice and critical thinking through an interdisciplinary art curriculum. It emphasises fundamental principles of visual arts, material exploration and development of artistic and thematic contextualisation. Drawing knowledge from various traditional arts, crafts and contemporary practices, students explore the transformative potential of visual arts.
