About Space Design

The Space Design program at School of Design, aims to impart the design thinking, creative exploration and technical skill sets that can equip a designer to create habitable spaces of diverse types. As part of our focus on preparing designers for the future, this program encourages students to create spaces across varying scales, complexities and contexts. Space design is not just restricted to Interior design – but also exposes students to Experience design, Set design, Events, Exhibitions, Virtual spaces, Transportation elements, Pavilions, Portable shelters and many more hybrid spaces that will be required in future. Our students pride themselves on the innovative, equitable and sustainable spatial solutions they create – with a focus on cutting-edge technology, often inspired by traditional crafts and knowledge systems, and always rooted in the context.

Minimum 1 year; Previous experience with administrative role, coordination, data management, accreditation, documentation and University protocols will be considered advantageous

  • Under Graduate degree in any domain
  • Master’s degree/professional degree will add weightage to the application

Key Responsibility Areas (KRAs)

  • Provide timely support at beginning and end of semesters to Faculty and TAs for administrative tasks, data entry, coordination with School of Design and University stakeholders.
  • Manage schedules, appointments, and meetings for faculty.
  • Support faculty and T.A.s in preparing and managing academic records (classrooms, grades, transcripts, etc.) and administrative tasks related to visiting faculty.
  • Assist in planning and executing academic events such as exhibitions, workshops, and juries.
  • Assist faculty and students in organizing events and trips.
  • Support faculty for requisition process.
  • Support Space Design faculty and students for outreach and promotion workshops.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date student and course information in the ERP system, including enrollment, grading, attendance, and course schedules.
  • Ensure timely updates and reports on student progress and academic records in the ERP system.
  • Handle administrative tasks related to student performance tracking, faculty support, and event management.
  • Resolve any administrative issues related to student courses, data management, or result generation in a timely manner.
  • Liaise with SoD Admin, Registrar’s office, CoE office, Academic Affairs team, Teaching Assistants, and Visiting faculty for various day-to-day and periodic activities.
  • Organize logistics for space allocation, classroom preparation, juries, etc., including working with in-house Admin, Housekeeping, and F&B teams during juries and events.
  • Enlist and manage all assets belonging to the Space Design Department, including classrooms, tagboards, etc.
  • Undertake any other roles that may evolve or be required with time.
  • The role may involve travel to other locations within and outside Ahmedabad wherever Space Design activities or events are being conducted.
