National Education Policy 2020 has recommended the introduction of design courses and the integration of design thinking into the school curriculum. Anant has set up CODE (Centre of Design Education) to create awareness amongst students, teachers, counsellors, principals and parents about design thinking and design as a discipline.
Though ubiquitous in our daily lives, design is a low-priority, non-mainstream subject and is not offered at schools. Our education system, based on rote learning and high scores as its measure of success, has been indifferent to inculcating creativity and critical thinking in our students.
The introduction of design education in schools promises to make a profound impact on students’ creativity, analytical thinking and problem-solving skills, as well as their emotional intelligence.
Anant National University, India’s first design university, offers to address this gap in our school pedagogical system through specially created courses and workshops for schools across the country to help them implement NEP’s recommendation to integrate design thinking in their curriculum and realise its potential to mould our young students into problem solvers. The University offers design workshops for teachers, principals, school counsellors and parents.
The summer school on design at Anant will introduce students and teachers from your school to the world of design through hands-on modules on product, communication, interaction and sustainable fashion by eminent designers. There will be workshops on Design Thinking, hackathons and craft making among other activities.
