Vimarsh Pandya, an adjunct associate professor at Anant, has expertise in teaching design studios using different pedagogies. He utilises various teaching methods to engage students effectively and brings practical, real-world experience to his teaching, enriching students’ learning with insights from his professional expertise.

 

At Anant, Vimarsh’s teaching efforts focus on tackling challenges related to affordable housing, exploring social housing initiatives, addressing issues of slum redevelopment, building materials and construction technology. He also guides thesis students, leveraging his expertise in these specialised areas to support their research and development endeavours.

 

Vimarsh’s academic journey is marked by a commitment to continuous learning and professional development. He holds a master’s in Planning from The School of Planning and Architecture (Deemed University) in New Delhi, where he gained valuable insights into urban planning. Additionally, he completed a certificate course in Urban Planning from CEPT in Ahmedabad, further expanding his knowledge in the field. To enhance his teaching skills, Vimarsh completed a 16-week faculty development programme conducted by Anant National University in collaboration with Harappa University in New Delhi in 2022. He also actively participates in workshops and special lectures to stay updated with the latest trends and research in urban planning. For instance, he attended a workshop organised by MoUD, GOI, and NIUA at the India Habitat Centre in New Delhi in 2013, focusing on consultants engaged in the preparation of CDPs and DPRs under Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM).

 

Moreover, Vimarsh took part in a special lecture by Dr Geraint Ellis on Health and the built environment at SPA Delhi in 2011. Additionally, he participated in a faculty development programme conducted by Prof Arti Kanekar from the Architecture Department at the University of Cincinnati in July 2019, further honing his skills and expertise in his field. 

 

Before joining Anant, Vimarsh served as a visiting professor at Growmore Group of Institutions in Himmatnagar. Alongside his academic endeavours, he remained active in his profession as an Architect, accumulating over 16 years of experience in the field. With a strong foothold in education, Vimarsh has dedicated nine years to teaching. Furthermore, he manages his own architectural firm, where he has successfully executed numerous projects over a decade. He is not only affiliated with the Council of Architecture but also holds active memberships in prestigious organisations such as the Indian Institute of Architecture (IIA), the Institute of Town Planners (ITPI) and the Institute of Indian Interior Designers (IIID). Additionally, he serves as a committee member at the IIA, Ahmedabad Centre, showcasing his commitment to professional development and community engagement within the architectural industry.

 

Vimarsh is not only proficient in academia but also showcases skills in sports. He was a talented cricket and table tennis player who showcased his prowess early, competing in state-level table tennis tournaments during his school years. He proudly represented his district at the state level twice in table tennis. Furthermore, he leads by example as the captain of the IIA Gujarat Cricket team, participating annually in a national-level cricket tournament. Beyond sports, he also embraces adventure, completing the Valley of Flowers trek in 2017 and demonstrating his love for exploration and outdoor pursuits.
