Kavita Pradhan, an Assistant Professor of Space Design at the School of Design, is passionate about the quality of education and has published several essays and papers in the architectural education domain. She has taught Building Construction, Architecture Design and Professional Practice for several years with nearly two decades of experience as a practising architect and interior designer, working on various typologies of projects of varied scales.
At Anant, Kavita actively works towards developing the pedagogy of Space Design Studios to shape students into critical thinkers and self-regulated design learners. She is also researching and working on a consultancy project, exploring how to transform schools to enhance children’s learning.
Kavita holds a BArch from Pillai College of Architecture, Mumbai, where she secured the second rank at the University of Mumbai. She also has a Master of Architecture Degree in Advanced Professional Studies from Virginia Tech, USA. While in the USA, Kavita worked with Dayton and Thompson Architects in Richmond. Thereafter, she joined as a Project Architect with Mathew and Ghosh Architects in Bengaluru, where she worked on many prestigious public buildings, including the Freedom Park.
In her initial years as an architect and an interior designer, Kavita worked on small-scale projects while teaching at the LISAA School of Design in Bengaluru as a visiting faculty. Before joining Anant, Kavita was an Associate Professor at Pillai College of Architecture, University of Mumbai. She was also a visiting faculty at Anant National University.
Beyond academics, Kavita is interested in travel and photography and has extensively travelled in India and abroad. In her free time, she passionately engages in baking, gardening and reading.
