Ashish Tiwari, an architect-maker and founder of ATA design Studio, Ahmedabad, focuses on integrating computation and technology with atmospheric architectural elements to generate holistic design solutions for contemporary challenges.
At Anant, Ashish works as an Associate Professor in the School of Architecture, bringing with him over 18 years of professional expertise and more than 11 years of teaching experience. Over the past year, he and his students have garnered numerous accolades, notably the Louis Kahn Trophy from NASA for their project Document of Design. Under his mentorship, his student Amrita Goyal succeeded in the “We cannot predict the future” competition as part of the Meta Studio Project.
He has completed his MArch from CEPT University and BArch from Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Institute of Technology, Vasad.
Alongside his architectural practice, Ashish has taught at CEPT University, Nirma University, SAL School of Architecture, Anant National University and Woodstock School, Mussoorie. His exposure at Harvard University Graduate School of Design, GSAPP, Columbia University and Fab Academy has helped him in advancing architectural design to go beyond the conventions.
Currently, he is leading a ground-breaking project titled “Metaverse in Architecture” in partnership with the University of Miami. The designs from this studio project have been featured in the University of Miami’s magazine. Additionally, the project has been documented in a book, and an exhibition showcasing the studio’s achievements is currently underway.
In his leisure time, Ashish enjoys rapid prototyping using digital fabrication tools with clear implications for practice and teaching. He has also received training in various Latin dance forms, including Jive, Salsa, Rumba, Samba, Waltz, Jazz and Contemporary Dance at Spin Academy, and he enjoys painting.
