Rajeev Kathpalia was a senior partner with the Pritzker laureate, Balkrishna Doshi and continues to practice from Sangath, Ahmedabad. His work includes regional and city plans, urban preservation, campuses, housing and furniture design. Kathpalia’s work is marked by a sensitive approach to ecology, water conservation, inclusiveness to habitat and advocacy. He has won several national and international competitions and has been widely published. Four of his projects are cited as exemplars in India’s National Education Policy. Kathpalia has also been a professor at CEPT University, SPA Delhi, Xia Jiaotong-Liverpool University and Anant National University.
He has lectured extensively in India and abroad and is the recipient of several honours and awards, including the Prime Minister’s Award, India and the 2019 Award for Distinction in Architecture by Washington University. His Smritivan Earthquake Memorial and Museum is listed among the 20 Works of Wonder in the world for 2023 by the Architecture Digest magazine.
He has been a distinguished jury member of many national and international awards including Dezeen and Architizer.
