Communication design students got an opportunity to interact with globally renowned artists and designers on their recent trip to Varanasi, organised as part of the ‘Common Studios’ module.
Anant students visited Banaras Hindu University to attend the Typo Day 2023 event hosted by the university’s Faculty of Visual Arts. The students witnessed the best works of renowned artists and designers from across the world who attended the conference to present the typefaces and art they and their institutions have developed.
The students got an opportunity to participate in workshops related to typography scripts and graphics. The highlight of the visit was meeting with Uday Kumar, the designer credited with designing the rupee symbol. He also donned the role of the host for the Typoday quiz contest, won by the students of Anant National University. Other notable guests included Achyut Palav, Ravi Poovaiah, GV Sreekumar and Dr Ajanta Sen, among many others.
Besides the event, students also visited Assi Ghat, Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Sarnath and the streets of Lanka for photos, videos, sketching and other activities that hold the essence of the holy place we travelled to.
