Riya Shah, a Bachelor of Architecture Graduate of the Class of 2024, explores space-making elements of markets.
The objective was to understand the space-making elements of street markets. Under the mentorship of Prof Sandeep Paul, Adjunct Associate Professor, School of Architecture, Riya explores how people claim and mark spaces on the street markets of Ahmedabad.
Hailing from Ahmedabad, Riya’s research helped to understand the roles of territoriality and informality in shaping these urban environments through observations, cartographic mapping, surveys and photography.
