India has 26.8 million persons with disabilities (PwDs), according to Census 2011, making up nearly 2.21% of the total population. Data from the World Bank indicates the actual figure could be considerably higher. Among them, a significant number are wheelchair users. However, mobility solutions for these individuals remain limited.

For people with disabilities, getting in and out of a vehicle remains a significant challenge, and it increases their dependence on others, making the transition more physically demanding. Auto-Morph offers a solution to this issue. It is an installable seat that provides a compact, user-friendly system for both mobility and travel without compromising on safety.
The design of Auto-Morph is such that it acts both as a wheelchair and a car seat, enabling a smoother transition through just a push of the button. It comes with an innovative folding mechanism where the wheels fold on their own into the base of the seat, saving people from the hassle of folding and storing. It then gets anchored securely into a mounting system, custom-designed for this particular product.

Beyond safety, the design emphasises efficiency and comfort. The wheelchair’s armrests double as rails, making entry and exit easier, while ergonomic seating reduces fatigue during long journeys. Compact packaging ensures it remains practical for everyday use. The Auto-Morph is not an add-on. It integrates the wheelchair and car seat as one.
Through user feedback, the key findings highlighted that Auto-morph reduced reliance on others, proved to be a more practical alternative, and a seamless transfer made the user more confident.
The path ahead includes refining the design, exploring scalable production, and collaborating with industry stakeholders who can help bring Auto-Morph to those who need it most.
