About the Programme

  • Curriculum
  • Develop Skills for Urban Solutions
  • Capstone Project

Students learn to collate inferences in a multidisciplinary manner to find solutions to various urban problems across four verticals: Society & People, Environment & Ecology, Technology & Networks and Management & Governance. The distinct but interrelated modules are carefully curated as a convergence of two or more verticals, to accord students with knowledge of the complexities in urban areas.

The programme imparts appropriate skills required for implementing urban solutions through the project cycle such as envisaging & designing, stakeholders consultation, negotiation & conflict resolution to project financing & implementation. The Design Charrettes in the first year and the Capstone Project in the second year are platforms to effectively utilise the skills learnt during the programme.

The pedagogy facilitates hands-on learning through real-life situations, cases and experiences. Building on this, the students of Urban Design and Development are required to undertake a capstone project executed over two semesters in the second year. The project provides the students with an opportunity to connect and work with real stakeholders, funding agencies and implementing authority, ensuring extended association with them through the project life cycle in the form of professional internship.
