June was abuzz with Summer School electives led by distinguished faculty from Anant and beyond. Our university was honoured with prestigious awards and accolades while our faculty left their mark on national and international platforms. In July, the Monsoon 2025 session began, bringing fresh energy back to campus.

Session Begins

The Monsoon 2025 session infused fresh energy into the campus, rekindling the vibrance we missed over the summer. The new academic session took off with hands-on workshops on 6 electives at the School of Architecture, involving 36 faculty and 320 students and minors at the School of Design, involving 118 faculty members and 966 students. Different academic interactions at the School of Creative Practices and Entrepreneurship (SCoPE), Anant School for Climate Action (ASCA) and Anant Fellowship also set the tone for a season of learning, exploration and growth.

Environment Day
Miyawaki Forest Project

On 5 June 2025, celebrating World Environment Day, the Anant School for Climate Action launched its Applied Research on the Miyawaki Afforestation Method, creating a living lab for climate action on campus. Rooted in the technique of Japanese botanist and plant ecology expert Dr Akira Miyawaki, this initiative sees Anant’s students and faculty collaboratively transforming a site into a dense, native forest. The project aims to enhance biodiversity, improve hydrology and strengthen urban resilience.

Summer

School 2025

With 28 elective course offerings, the Summer School 2025 turned out to be an enriching experience for the 391 students, who participated and explored different aspects of design and art. The experienced mentors from Anant and other distinguished institutions conducted these electives, bringing the classrooms alive with curiosity, creativity and hands-on exploration. From guiding design thinking exercises to sparking lively discussions and group challenges, they made sure learning was not just effective, but seriously fun.

CODE

CODE initiated a semester-long series of masterclasses and activity-based workshops for students from Classes 8 to 12, aimed at nurturing creativity, critical thinking and innovation among school children. Dr Lalon, Associate Professor, School of Design, and Prof Sekhar Mukherjee, Professor and Programme Lead, Moving Image, School of Design, led engaging masterclasses for 90 students and 10 teachers from the schools of Lakshman Gyanpeeth Foundation.

CODE also organised Anant Summer IsCool ’25, welcoming 89 participants, including students, principals, teachers and parents from 44 schools across 15 cities. To be part of a fun-filled learning experience, lookout for Anant Winter IsCool 2025, coming this December!

Faculty Focus

Dr Palash Dhara
Palash

Anant is home to a vibrant community of scholars drawn from some of the top schools, home and abroad. Dr Dhara, an Assistant Professor, Anant School of Climate Action (ASCA) and Associate Academic Director, Anant Fellowship for Climate Action, is one such scholar who brings academic expertise and industry experience. Dr Dhara completed his postdoctoral tenure at Stanford University, USA, and was also a postdoctoral fellow at IIT Gandhinagar.

His PhD research was recognised with the prestigious 'Shah-Schulman Award' for the best PhD thesis in colloid and interface sciences for 2022, by the Indian Institute of Chemical Engineers (IIChE). He was also awarded multiple scholarships (GATE Scholarship, MHRD Fellowship, etc.) and travel grants for attending national and international conferences and science meetings (MRS Fall Meeting 2016, Boston, MA, USA). At Anant, he looks forward to advancing his expertise in micro or nanopatterned surfaces.

Saina Shankar

Saina Shankar, a 5th-semester Product Design student with a minor in Health and Wellbeing, was awarded the 3rd Prize by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi, Smt Rekha Gupta, at the 16th Toy Biz International B2B Exhibition, New Delhi, India’s largest trade fair for the toy industry. Saina showcased her innovative toy design, which encourages tactile exploration, cognitive engagement and replayability without screens. The exhibition was graced by dignitaries, including Shri Piyush Goyal, Minister of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.
