Ashima Banker is a member of the faculty at Anant National University where she also holds the position of Vice Principal at School of Planning. She was associated with Faculty of Planning, CEPT University, and also part of the CEPT research and consultancy foundation. She has experience in working with more than 50 consultancy and research projects. Some of the prestigious projects she worked on are ‘Revision of Development Plan for GUDA, Gandhinagar’, ‘Preparation of Master Plan for Changodar Industrial Region’.
She has been teaching at UG & PG level since 2007 in Planning & Architecture. The major courses she teaches are Planning Legislation, Urban Management, Neighbourhood Planning, Planning Theory and Research Methodologies. She always attempts to make her sessions interactive, instigating critical thinking and problem solving.
She completed her post graduation in Urban & Regional Planning at CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and her undergraduate studies in Architecture at TVB School of Habitat Studies, New Delhi.
She recently presented her research paper titled ‘Sustainable Land Development’ at the International conference on Future Smart cities, organised by IEREK – International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange. Her current research work is on ‘Planning education in India: need for an overhaul’ and ‘Technology driven Urban Planning’.
Originally from Delhi, Ashima is based in Ahmedabad for almost two decades now. In her free time she loves to paint, read and write poetry.
