Professor Ashima Banker pursued her postgraduate studies in Urban & Regional Planning from CEPT University, Ahmedabad, and her undergraduate studies in Architecture from TVB School of Habitat Studies, New Delhi.
Prior to joining Anant National University, she was associated with the Faculty of Planning, CEPT University, and was also part of the CEPT Research & Consultancy Foundation (CRDF). She has been teaching at an undergraduate and postgraduate level, since 2007, in the field of Planning and Architecture. The major courses she teaches are Planning Legislation, Urban Management, Neighbourhood Planning, Planning Theory and Research Methodologies.
Professor Banker has the experience of working with over 50 consultancy and research projects. She has worked on prestigious projects like the Revision of Development Plan for GUDA, Gandhinagar and the Preparation of Master Plan for Changodar Industrial Region. She recently presented her research paper titled ‘Sustainable Land Development’ at the international conference on Future Smart Cities (FSC), organised by the International Experts for Research Enrichment and Knowledge Exchange (IEREK). Her current research work is on ‘Planning Education in India: Need for an Overhaul’ and ‘Technology-driven Urban Planning’.
Ashima Banker is a Professor and the Director of Master of Design in Urban Design at Anant National University.
