Built environment is the human-made world as we know it. Since the time of early settlers, the built environment encompasses all human-made structures, features and facilities in which people live and work. It touches all facets of our lives and brings together various systems and structures essential to modern-day civilisation. These spaces and systems require enormous quantities of materials and often these materials are directly or indirectly responsible for environment degradation and/or climate change.

In the year 2015, the United Nations Members States adopted 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), also known as the Global Goals, as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030.

The 17 integrated goals are built to have a special focus to achieve the common goal of global development that balances social, economic and environmental sustainability. Our programme is focused to understand the challenges to achieve goals such as ‘Sustainable Cities and Communities’, ‘Life on Land’ and ‘Climate Action’.
